Zachary’s 1st Birthday Party

A delayed post as always!

Sooo where shall I begin… Basically the party was a huge success alhamdulillah. It really was a fun and happening one. Initially we thought of organizing BBQ with family at home but there was this one fine day that my family had lunch at Hotel Bangi Putrajaya (previously Hotel Equatorial Bangi) and my mum casually got an idea and suggested for the birthday party to be held there. We really like our dim sum/lunch there and are definitely familiar with the hotel.

January is a celebratory month because we have these special dates in line:

3 January – My big brother’s birthday

4 January – My sister and brother in law’s anniversary

20 January – My brother in law’s birthday

22 January – Zachary’s birthday

27 January – My parents’ anniversary

Because of these celebrations we thought of holding a more special get together with family members with the spotlight angled at and for Zachary’s 1st Birthday party. My dad approved of the idea and my sister took the lead in securing a room at the hotel for the party.

We always know this hotel offers really good Chinese food at a fairly reasonably price. That said we were very very happy with the food service that night and it was a good feeling to hear our family members passing compliments on how much they enjoyed the food. Alhamdulillah. In terms of the room review, I must say we couldn’t ask for more. Very good room in terms of size and layout! They have a number of rooms that can accommodate from 20-100 guests. Ours was for 50 people and it could even fit a giant sized bouncy castle.

Speaking of bouncy castle, yes we rented a bouncy castle for the kids to play and it was the best decision made because all they did was jump and slide throughout the party (gave all parents the chance to eat and mingle freely). For anyone who’s looking for bouncy castle, you can just search #bouncycastlemalaysia on Instagram and you shall find about 4-5 business pages that provide rent services for bouncy castles. Currently the rent price is between RM350-500 depending on the size for 3-4 hours rental time.

Moving on to party planner, we opted for Wondermamacandybuffet again (my sister’s baby shower’s party planner). As this party was more for kids, we made sure to have the customised dessert buffet table. And speaking of theme.. The theme for the night was ‘football and jersey’. We notified everyone of this and thank you dearest family for coming in jerseys that night.

I’m about to share photos now! A few of them are from my own collections while the rest are from our photographer for the night, Azim Sharif. My sister got his contact number from her friend and you can search @azimsharif on Instagram shall you like his work!

World’s coolest grandmother award for our dearest Grandma. My 75 year old grandma really shocked everyone that night. Thanks Che for coming in jersey!

Urmm yeah uncles.. We get it that you’re all young too.

As you can see, we were wearing different football team jerseys. I have to say that a lot of us was in Arsenal jerseys but Liverpool had to win that night since the birthday boy was wearing Liverpool jersey (thank you Uncle Azrul for Zachary’s jersey). Too young to decide according to his uncles but a son’s gotta support what the dad supports huh haha.
Before I end the post, I want to credit myself (ahem ahem) first for both Birthday and Anniversary cakes. Anniversary cake turned out nice but Zachary’s cake didn’t turn out too well. I still slap my forehead whenever I see the uneven fondant layer on Zachary’s cake but I’m happy that I didn’t give up at least. Fondant dear.. you were super difficult to deal with.

So yes, that’s it about Zachary’s 1st Birthday Party! Zachary, if ever you’re reading this in the future, I just want you to know how very lucky you are to be blessed with wonderful parents, grandparents and family members. Mama Ya prays you grow up to be an amazing amazing person inside and out just like they are in shaa Allah.

Happy growing up baby boy.

Raya 2016

Picture above was taken after Solat Aidilfitri in Masjid Kubang Kerian. I look for ward to this every year and I was thankful for another chance to perform this.

Hope it’s not too late to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! I hope you had a joyous and wonderful time with all your loved ones and as painful as this sounds, Happy Working to us all. Hehe.
It was lovely to scroll down and see so many Raya photos the other days… Everyone just looked so cheerful! I’m going to post some photos on my blog too, it’s a special year for me as I gave out my first actual Raya packets! I realized how old I am now because I really did not receive any duit raya anymore except from one of my aunties (disregarding my sister and brother here). That I felt bad to accept but rezeki is rezeki *wink wink*.

Tadaaaaa… Nothing was left by the 2nd day of course. Alhamdulillah for this year, I pray I’m blessed with more rezeki next year so that I get to give more and more.

Got to photograph this… My baby brother received his first duit raya from this garang sister. Love you Adik spend your money wisely please!

Now on to my baby cousins… Umm truth is this was a planned photo haha. I have many cousins but only managed to drag these pretty little ones into the photo.

Next I would like to share some candid and real pictures of Raya 2016 both Day 1 and 2.

My sister, brother in law and nephew only came back on the 2nd day Raya but they shared their Raya picture with us.

Happy family in pink! Sigh.. That little heartbreaker in the middle, Mama Ya loves you a lot.

Last in the list of pictures shall be one family photo of us. I’m so glad I’m always so persistent with ‘must take family picture’ or there would be none… Hehe.

So once again, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri from my family and I. Maaf Zahir & Batin indeed if I’ve ever hurt you with my words or actions!

Mommy’s Day

Got to post one for memory! I like the idea of being able to recollect special moments especially via reading and seeing old pictures. These pictures below were taken at Royal Chulan Kuala Lumpur for my mum’s Mother’s Day dinner. Truth is everyday is Mother’s Day but I love that there is a specific day dedicated for our mums. A day of appreciation, a day of celebration for our supermums.

This year has got to be really special because we have Mohammad Zachary with us. An absolute sweetheart he is to all of us, thanks for bringing pretty new colours into our family. To my darling sister, Happy 1st time celebrating Mommy’s Day!

My only wish and prayer for my mama is for Allah to grant her His Jannah and in fact I pray for this every single day. She is the definition of an almost perfect woman and I want to thank you for bringing me up with unconditional love, tender and care. May I become a daughter that you will forever be proud of and may I become someone useful to the nations and religion because I want to give you and papa so much. Give me time, I’ll get there in shaa Allah.

Happy Mother’s Day to you my only queen, my best friend <3

Mohammad Zachary’s Aqiqah

FullSizeRender

Overdue post again and as usual my dad got a little angry at me for not being consistent with my blogging. “Is Yaya that busy?” “Ya, when are you going to blog?” *oops sorry pa*. I planned to blog since a few days ago but Unifi at home did not work for 4 days and everyone went pretty much lost without it. Sure we had 4Gs on our phones but how long would that really last if data is constantly being used up. Got mad at TM but the problem was somewhat understandable since it involved broken cables around the distribution board. Anyhow, that proved how dependent people are with internet these days. It’s almost fair to say no internet = no life. Not good not good.

Back to the actual story, my family held Aqiqah + Maulud Rasul ceremony for the little darling on 27/02/2016 and it went really smoothly alhamdulillah. I’ve shared some pictures on my Instagram and Facebook accounts and so the pictures that I posted today would be the repetition of what you have already seen except with more stories.

To begin with, I was in charge of the canopies and decorations (+ Quality Check control hehe) and I previously saw the really pretty Aqiqah decorations on Vivy Yusof’s instagram. It was a picture of her best friend’s son’s aqiqah and that was where I found Kidsystudio. Approached them and found out that the price was well reasonable. We were lucky that they had one last slot for 27/02 and I booked them on the spot. Canopies were from AF Kanopi and the quality was not bad so do check them out if you’re looking for canopies!

Thank you Kidsystudio!

3Thank you AF Kanopi!

My dad was the mastermind of the whole event and he really wanted to organise Maulud Rasul on the day just like during my sister’s nikah. It was a success and thank you so much fellow respected Habibs and Ustaz for your presence as it really meant a lot to us family.

Catering was by my very own aunty Fatihah Frozen Food. My parents mentioned about receiving really wonderful compliments for the food and we have you to thank for everytime Mama Ah. My aunt does both frozen food and catering business and I think many of us are familiar with her company. They have expanded tremendously over these 5 years and their products are available in Tesco, Giant and a few other groceries store. They export to neighbouring countries and you can also enjoy FFF products on selected Kopitiam/coffee shops. My aunty is now always seen on TV and she has my utmost respect for making it this far!

My sister and brother in law invited their colleagues and friends and it was so sweet of everyone to come all the way. Thank you also to all family members and relatives who made time to attend the aqiqah. Such a prosperous reunion with the big family that came from Kelantan we love you!

I was continuously on the go so it was sad that I did not get to capture everyone’s pictures (Note: Must hire photographer next time) and most photos that I have are not even from my Nikon camera really just from my phone. *insert sad face emoticon*

See what I mean there? Limited pictures but alhamdulillah for everything.

I’m going to end this post with a picture of the little family that I managed to capture after the event. Glad I insisted on it or there would be none!

Mohammad Zachary’s Arrival

Almost one month of silence and I got several reminders from my readers to blog. My dad alone had reminded me twice about it “Ya, make sure you write soon” “Ya, blog is quiet for some time already. Blog soon”.

Okay, I do feel guilty for not blogging as often as I used to anymore. I would love to rant about how busy my schedules are everyday but I think that’s not a good excuse anymore.. So what I’ll do is I’ll jump straight to my sister’s labour story that I had promised to write about in my previous blog post.

_______________________________________________________________________________

21 January 2015

“What? You still want to go to office? You look too heavy for that already” – everyone’s words to her when she said she was going to go to uni to do work.

“But I need to finish up my work. Just this one and I’ll feel so relieved to go through delivery and confinement. I can have lunch at home before I go to my office. Adik, can you accompany me to my office after lunch please?”

At that point of pregnancy, anybody would have said yes. She drove from her place in KL to Kajang (SIGH) and we left to her office after having lunch with the family. *Her due date was supposedly on 30 January but she delivered a week earlier and had we known this, it would be a goodbye to your wish of wanting to go to the office.*

“Seriously kak, I don’t know how you do this everyday. How come UPM doesn’t want to invest in elevators? And again, why did you have to choose an office on the 3rd floor?”

“That room was the nicest one available and I couldn’t say no to it. Hmm hang on, why are you the tired one? I’m pregnant and I’m fine”

“Well, I hardly exercise”

“Well, that explains why”

Hahaha. Okay don’t judge. I think I’m better now. Hehe.

My sister took around 3 hours to get her work done and I had that one feeling that she was due very very soon. You know the tips they share about promoting easy delivery – climb stairs. My sister did that everyday and she was one of the most active pregnant ladies you could see. “Dr, why are you still not on leave” – students and colleagues.

________________________________________________________________________________

22 January 2015

I woke up really early on that particular morning. 4.30am to be exact. I’m an early riser in nature but I would usually still be in my dreamland at 4.30am. I got bored and decided to watch online dramas while leaving my phone to charge. At 5.30am my mom opened the door and said “Ya, let’s go to the hospital”.

“Hospital? Why ma?”

“You didn’t read the text Kakak dropped us at 5am? Her water broke at 3am”

And then.. All the hustle bustles began. I was already jumping in joy but I knew God was watching me and it wasn’t pretty really so I put myself back into reality and straight away took shower, prayed, recited Quran verses for my sister and got ready. My sister told us not to rush and she too would be off to the hospital only after Subuh as her contractions were not severe yet.

I saw a text from my brother in law at 6.40am and he said my sister’s dilation was already 5cm. My little knowledge of ‘pregnancy and childbirth’ told me that that was already huge! I ran to my parents’ room and told my mum about it and “Gosh, that’s so soon already so fast! I thought Kakak said minor contractions only” – Mama.

IMG_7297

I urged my mum to be quick and we left the house at 7.20am. The worst time ever but we would weather anything for you kakak and baby nephew. Alhamdulillah, we arrived at the hospital 1.5 hours later (Morning jams in KL = 1 hour delay) and was directed to the labour ward. The hospital policy gave the option of either having the husband or mother accompany the patient in the labour room and my mum knew in advance that she did not want to be by my sister’s side for two reasons:

  1. She couldn’t afford seeing my sister in pain
  2. She knew her son in law was the best person to be there

If you noticed the screenshot, my BIL mentioned that the baby was expected to be out by 9am. I thought this prediction was helpful although it did result in making my mum and I felt super duper anxious. 9.30am still no news from the nurse, 9.45am still no news, 10am still no news, 10.15am and stilll no news. I think I saw my mum tear up a bit while she roamed around in circular motion reciting duas and zikir. She was so so worried and the anxiousness and worries finally came to a stop at 10.37am when “Uwaaaa” rang the bell.

“Ya, did you hear that?” “What is it ma?” “Baby’s cry. That’s him. That’s my grandson!”

There was a cleaner around us that time and she helped confirm it “Yes yes, baby’s definitely out”. My mum’s smile was so so priceless. My dad being the awesome time coordinator that he is got to the hospital ON TIME (I think 3 minutes after the cry).

My BIL came out from the labour room shortly after and I could bet I never felt so excited to see him. Read: wanted to hear his words of assurance. Hahaha. Sorry BIL. We rushed to him and he made it all better by showing us a picture that he captured fresh of my nephew! My feelings that time, subhanAllah, indescribable.

He continued to say “One person can go inside now, maybe mama can go”. And like a flash, my mama was gone..

IMG_5837

IMG_5838

Okay, I forgot to highlight my big family here. My dad made an announcement on the group chat before the delivery and thank you again for the thoughtful wishes and prayers. I am eternally grateful to Allah for granting us all a very close family bond.

And now here goes the first ever picture of Mohammad Zachary bin Mohammad Bazil (taken by daddy)!

BIL’s family arrived at the same hour and it was really sweet to see the proud grandparents visiting their grandson at the nursery.

FullSizeRender-5

Now on to my sister.. Sigh. I am proud of you. I really am. Being the most ‘manja’ in the family, you came out of that zone and proved to us how strong you were. The first glance that I had of you in your designated room after delivery made me feel weak. You looked so so pale. But you made it kakak. A normal delivery and you gave birth to a healthy baby boy without the help of epidural that you had always aimed for.

Thank you so much Allah for smoothening her whole journey.

FullSizeRender-4Jiddi and Nenda’s love for you is overwhelming, that your aunty and uncles can 100% confirm

So to my fighter Kakak/Best Friend,

You’re officially a mother now and I know for sure you will be a great mommy to Zachary in shaa Allah. Thank you for bringing the little one into this world. Love you a lot.

And to our ever dearest Zachary,

You are an angel. You have opened up the windows of rezeki and brought tremendous joy to our family in just a month. May you grow up to be a great Muslim to God and religion, a responsible son to daddy and mummy, a loving grandson to Grandpa & Grandma and Jiddi & Nenda, a generous nephew to your aunties and uncles (HEHE), a wonderful family member to your extended family and a good friend to all your friends.

We love you so much already and happy growing up, little boy.

Our Founder is 29

I make it a point to blog today because I just realised how fun it is to get to read back old posts. I seldom go back to my blog to read what I once typed before but I actually did today and wow there’s so much enjoyment in recalling back past memories. And guess what, I just read all the comments that you dropped me, thank you sincerely guys you are my motivations to keep writing (and sorry that I did not get to approve them I’m so bad I know..). I realised how I’ve quite matured in writing and how I can still polish the way I structure my sentences.

Anyway back to the main point of today’s post, my brother in law aka Maxora’s founder is 29 today! Happiest Birthday to you BIL. I can’t find the actual words to describe my relationship with you except for ‘love-hate’. Haha. You, kakak and I would know why but I just want to say that whatever it is, I think you’re such a genius and super efficient and attitude like yours are rare to come by. Maxora is definitely blessed to have you on board and it would not have been where it stands today if not for your major contributions.

A little story regarding the little surprise that my heavily pregnant sister had planned yesterday. My sister being the last minute person that she is (but somehow always manages to excel I don’t know how) texted me after Subuh and asked if I was going to be free to accompany her to Bangsar to buy a birthday cake and card for my BIL. The perks of being self employed entrepreneur is your time is fairly flexible and I without any pause said yes. Cancelled my usual morning breakfast plan with my parents and got in the car by 9.30am ready to fetch my sister from her place. Arrived at Troika a bit late due to jams – read: Jams in Malaysia are getting horribly bad. I mean how is it still jam at 10am and I shall not add about how jams also happen during weekends.

We went to Bangsar because my sister wanted to get a chocolate/coffee cake from Jaslyn Cakes at Jalan Telawi. She rang the shop on our way there and of course we could not get one when they told her cakes at Jaslyn should be purchased through pre-order basis (3 days to be exact). “Haih why am I always last minute” – Dr Nur. Hahaha. She dialled Levain instead and she was lucky they could reserve the cake that she wanted for afternoon pick up (told you she always manages). Took a stroll around shops in BV2 for sometime and we decided it was time for early lunch because we got too hungry.

I noticed instagrammers have been posting  about this new cafe place to try out, Dotty’s, which belongs to the F&B expert Nadia Nasimuddin and made our way to TTDI. We got there safe and sound but found out it was closed and that left us two hungry ladies having to bear our hunger for the next 20 minutes before we could arrive at Pavilion.. Pavilion because my sister wanted to look for the yet to be decided birthday gift. We had Japanese for lunch at Kampachi which was exciting enough as I really missed my bento box. My family except for my dad, sister and I does not fancy Japanese food and so we never really get to have them here in KL.

IMG_5760Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll yums! IMG_5740Craving fulfilled! Thank you for the treat kakak.

Our happy tummies meant we were ready for some birthday gift hunting. My sister could not decide what would be the perfect gift until we came across a shop that we might have noticed but never cared about before – DC Comics SuperHero. I guess this is what expecting a child/nephew did to us yesterday, we actually entered the shop and even found the perfect gifts for my BIL and baby nephew (it’s not your birthday baby nephew but you’re loved already). I think you can quite tell too by now – my sister got her husband and child matching Superman t-shirts yeap! I thought that was a brilliant idea rather than buying gifts which my BIL already has all.

FullSizeRender-4Hehe this looks like the kind of shop mommy is going to enter soon, not handbags anymore!

IMG_5768So so so cute!

Done with that, it was time to go pick up the birthday cake from Levaine. That went by easy and fast and I dropped by my sister’s place to help carry everything up. My sister rang her hubby before heading back and luck was again on her side as he was out meeting his work colleague. She hid the cake in the second freezer and just when she had a good feeling about the surprise, he said ‘let’s go for groceries sayang, I want to buy my watermelon….’ (post 4 hours after I left my sister’s place). In the simplest terms, my sister had to tell BIL about the cake because he would have found out anyway when unpacking their groceries. Hahaha.

IMG_5769

Happy Birthday again to you my one and only brother in law (valid since I have only one sister)! I hope you enjoy the cake and your day today although I know you’re working on something for Maxora now. Men really find birthdays to be just as other days huh.

Screen Shot 2016-01-20 at 4.26.33 PM

May Allah shower you with continuous blessings, success and happiness and may you and kakak be an awesome daddy and mommy in shaa Allah!

Kakak’s Birthday/Baby Shower

I told my sister I wanted to write this post closer to her due date and her response was “What? Basi la cerita ni nanti. I don’t understand how your mind works sometimes dik, you should write now” –.–

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

June 2015

Before I start writing about the afternoon tea party which I’m sure everyone knows about (due to heavy pictures load on your Facebook news feed and Instagram timeline), I would like to share a little story about how we first found out that my sister was (is) pregnant.

There were I think 2 false alarms for her pregnancy before the third correct alarm. She got married in January 2014 and she made herself clear that she and my BIL would only start considering having a baby after at least a year or so because they were both not ready yet. That was fair enough because my sister still had another year to go for her Phd studies. And so, a year passed by and I remember returning to Bristol first for my final year exams before she did 2 weeks after for her Viva. It was not all so different yet the first few days until she started getting hot flushes and constant anxieties + restlessness. We thought it was nothing much and then there we were planning for what we referred to as our final ‘Sisters’ Europe Trip’ before we flew home for good. It was such a last minute plan and that got our parents saying No in the beginning and decision overturned after we convinced them that ‘Ma pa, if we don’t go now, when else to go.’ Hehe.

Few days after, we were already in Italy and that was when things really got fishy. She was constantly hungry and it meant the impatient ‘I want food NOW’ Nur. She also could not stop saying how tiring the whole trip was… = stressed Nadia. The trip was of course fun nevertheless.

Our flight back to Malaysia was 2 days after our return to Bristol and then there was I being such an aunty telling my mom ‘Ma, it’s really strange this time. I think she’s really pregnant’. My mom did not want to be so hopeful and let my words pass. I think it was a week after that my mom and I helped my sister buy the pregnancy test kit from the nearby pharmacy. My sister came back home after work feeling all nervous in all its essence and she performed the test. I was in my room that time feeling as agitated as her and then she called out ‘Adik adik, come here’ ‘What kak, what?’ ‘I think I’m pregnant. Look at those lines’ ‘Huh what line what line are you talking about?’

IMG_6440 (1)

My sister’s hands were too shaky already that time and then I took the instructions flyer and the lines made sense all of the sudden. ‘Ya Allahhhh alhamdulillah, you are pregnant!!’ I got out from the toilet straight to my mum and said ‘Ma in shaa Allah you will really be a grandmother!!’ and god I think that was the first time I ever saw my mum jump – too excited eh ma? Hehehe.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

November 2014

29 weeks pregnant already! My sister always used to mention about wanting a baby shower and my mum being her traditional self said NO. I convinced her that our definition of baby shower is not actually baby shower, it is more of a simple small get together between friends with nice decorations. She still was not very happy and then we considered ‘Solat Hajat/Melenggang Perut’. My sister and I however read about Melenggang Perut and did not really enjoy what we read and so we called the idea off. We discussed further of what to do and then I told my sister to just leave it all to me. We agreed to have a small personal event between just her and her friends but without her knowing all the details. Told our mum about the idea of which she agreed to and our dad decided to have a small solat hajat at our house with few Habibs. That solved it all because we would want a solat hajat ceremony first before anything as my parents always remind us to first do the priority before anything.

I texted my BIL that the Melenggang Perut/Solat Hajat was not happening anymore and I wanted to organise a small event for kakak and friends. My BIL did not really favour the idea and wanted at least both sides of the families to be around and so we both collaborated for the event. We targeted around 30pax before our families cancelled on us and said we should just carry on with just friends. That reduced the number of pax to 20 and I did half of the invitations and my BIL did another half.

Invitations sorted out (had some disagreements with my BIL before it was all good again) and then there were ‘Venue, Food, Decorations and Cake’ to attend to. My BIL initially opted for Double A Cafe as the owners are his friends but the price was a bit too high with what we would be given and so we changed venue 2 days before the event. Thanks to my BIL because he managed to secure Bistro 160 at Grand Millennium Hotel KL and we received a much better deal there. We had to inform the guests of the venue change and we were lucky because everyone was just so lovely with their ‘still yes!’ replies.

I sorted out decorations and I did what we all do best now – search through Instagram hashtags. I found two planners but the first one was already booked and I was lucky the other one wanted to service us. The result was hmmmmm a truly satisfied customer!

2

Amazing job done, Thank you Kak Nurul *insert flying kiss and love is in the air emoticons*! I really did not say much to her except I wanted baby blue/white for the theme colour. That also involved changing my order from initially a candy buffet table decoration (for Double A Cafe) to personalised individual pax decorations. Really great that my BIL sent me pictures of what baby shower for afternoon tea party usually looks like or I would have not amended my order otherwise. For those looking for event planner, you can search on Instagram @wondermamacandybuffet. They do catering services too!

3

5

The food consisted of the desserts trays + scones and we had tea or coffee for beverages. The whole team especially Nia were incredibly friendly and their service was first class. My BIL was one happy customer.

7

Birthday cake was by again one of the bakers I found on Instagram @suezcakez. I recommend going to Kak Sue as she is so fast with replies and is generous too, thank you again Kak Sue!

Next in line would be pictures of my beautiful preggy sister with her husband and friends (and me and CP). MP, if you are reading this – I am so sorry I did not call to invite you, Abang Aiman and Ayyash. It was really because we did not want to trouble you as you just got back from Langkawi and to make another trip to KL we thought would have been so tiring.

MP we definitely missed you!

Alhamdulillah, it was a wonderful wonderful birthday/baby shower afternoon tea party and it was really satisfying to hear and see how happy my sister was with the whole thing. Kakak, BIL and I would like to thank you so much friends for spending your afternoon with us and we apologise again should there be anything you found not right!
