Kakak’s Birthday Part 1

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to kakak,
Happy Birthday to………………………

Youuuuuuuu.

Did you love the card we got you?

Okay, so my one and only blood sister is 27 today. My amazing, beautiful, diva, funny, fashionista genius, kind, loving, talented and wonderful sister. To be honest, the family and I ran out of idea of what to get her but thankfully, there is that intelligently developed idea which has now become the tradition in the family; to not have any element of surprise and be truthful to your family of what you actually want for your birthday. And that idea of course came from no other than the birthday lady…

So again, we suggested a number of possible birthday presents that she might want. “Kakak, do you want earrings? Or bracelets? Or a new purse perhaps? Sorry we can’t give you the handbag that you want because we have no money”.

After a good 3 minutes pause…

“Ahhhhhhhhh, I know what I want adik! iPhone 6 Plus!” – Honesty is the best policy.

We’ve always known she wanted an iPhone 6 but we thought Apple here (okay fine Apple, it’s UK government) put a VAT of 20% on all their goods so buying Apple products in Malaysia is without a doubt the best idea. And my sister agreed to buying the iPhone in Malaysia so it was quite a news. Hehe. But what led to the decision really was the fact that Apple UK does ‘Reuse and Recycle’ program which definitely isn’t available in most Asian countries. What this program does is you can trade in your old Apple items with the newer ones. Bring your old iPhones or Macs and grab any staff (Apple staffs are generally really friendly and efficient by the way huh) and they will value and consequently quote the trade in values. If we agree to them, we do not get cash backs but instead they give us Apple Gift Cards that are worth the values they quote. You can then purchase any Apple product you wish and use the gift cards balance at the till.

My sister used an iPhone 5 and it was worth £120 (her phone was considered to be in a really good condition so depending on the conditions you may get lesser). We checked out the value 2 weeks before and we already agreed to buy the phone either a day before or on her birthday itself. 2 weeks flew by and off we were to Apple again yesterday and it was so ironic how we entered the store at exactly 4pm UK time. “Kakak, it’s your birthday already in Malaysia!”

Trading in process
The trade in and purchase process took only 15 minutes and guess who smiled like a little girl after that…
Yay!
And it’s double yay because someone already got her the phone cover as a birthday gift.
Thank you Mr Muzzamir!
I hope you’re loving your birthday presents kakak.

“Are you sure you want a 6 plus? A person with tiny hands like yours, a bit hard to hold don’t you think?”
“It’s okay. I’ll get used to it”
Love you kak, a very Happy Birthday to you!
